Zardoz forgive me, but holy shit:
Boorman saw Alphaville. See it. It's a french flick - unbelievable pre-parallel to Zardoz. Same script, almost - overlain with an entirely different aesthetic. No one made the director hit anybody over the head with any plot elements, either - there is almost *no* explanation of what's going on until about halfway through the picture. Amazingly good.
I thought it was someone around here that convinced me to put in on my queue - was it? Couldn't find the thread.

"bender; there's no such thing as two"
did I see a nine!? -

Forgive me , mr Xaid, I have a strange sense of humor. The statements above remind me a little of the speech of an auctioneer---in the antique auctions I went to with my grandparents when I was a child and later, occasionally, in my early teens .

Thu, May 18, 2006 - 6:00 PMMitra sent me this like "shell" via UPS, with a note, "hold it up to your ear", I was like , sure dude , whatever, I made a neckalace out of it and traded it for a groovy hand tooled leather belt, with a buckel of brass shaped like Texas! -

Wed, July 19, 2006 - 12:23 PMI just watched zardoz the other night & it is weird. makes me think about psychic t.v.
the weirdest thing for me is it's effect on the daffodil cult. certain memebers of the krewe took on names from the film & there fore give these characters an added dimension for one who has known them personally.
i think it is important to smoke before watching the film because "the stone head is the only way penetrate the vortex" -

Re: Alphaville
Wed, July 19, 2006 - 1:00 PMI has a kind of resonating truth. It's especially interesting to me now, as the various factions form up and more or less conform to the stereotypes drawn in Zardoz, complete with the same subtle cultural deficiencies, hubris, brutality, gated "communities", online RPGs, and rampant kill/death-urges manifesting religiously in the disenfranchised zones. Boorman was prolly on some strong shit that day.
Watch Alphaville, man - the plots line up almost point for point. It's cool and spooky. Alphaville is pregnant with a bizarre sense of humor that Z only has by proxy; both have their own spectrum of creepily prophetic surmises.
Lemmy Caution is kind of a nihilist noir superhero. -

Sun, August 27, 2006 - 8:14 PMI had the issue of "Famous monsters of Filmland" with a splash cover of the stone head, I bought with bubble gum money in 1973. I dread to think who threw that magzine away. not me. you could even send off for copies of the hunter two headed masks in the back pages. . boy the world is really lame nowadays. -

Thu, September 14, 2006 - 1:23 AMMy wife walked around the house repeating lines from it in a ridiculous french accent for *months* after watching it; I found that entertaining. I guess we're just weird.

Tue, October 31, 2006 - 12:37 PMaha...
you display your incomplete knowledge of film lore.
specifically where zardoz itself is concerned.
Only one image comes to my mind: Zed.
and the killing of brutals that he hath done. -
